A South Carolina Man Have Been  Killed In An Accident That Left Another Motorist Hospitalized, According To Officials

The South Carolina Highway Patrol said that an SUV and a sedan collided on Wednesday, killing one motorist and injuring another.

Brian Corley, a 46-year-old Williston resident, died in what Aiken County Coroner Darryl Ables described as an accident.

Lance Cpl. Brittany Glover of the Highway Patrol said that the two-vehicle crash occurred at 1:40 p.m. on U.S. 78/Charleston Highway.

Corley was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Malibu east on U.S. 78, while a 2013 Ford Escape was headed west, according to Glover. According to Ables, the Ford SUV crossed the center line and collided with the Chevy at the Clippership Loop junction.

Both drivers were transported to a hospital in Augusta, Georgia, where Corley died, according to Ables.

More information about the SUV driver's condition was not provided.

Glover stated that the drivers were the only persons in their respective vehicles, and no further injuries were recorded.

There was no information on whether one of the drivers wore a seat belt.

The cause of the SUV's turn into oncoming traffic remained unknown, but Ables said his agency and the Highway Patrol are still investigating the accident. Ables stated that an autopsy would be scheduled in Newberry.
