UPS driver killed after gunfire in Irvine; potential suspect locks himself in truck, authorities say.
A #UPS driver was died after being shot multiple times in his work vehicle in Irvine on Thursday, according to authorities.
The Irvine Police Department said on X, previously Twitter, that they received a call just after 3 p.m. regarding a guy shot at Chrysler and Bendix. A police official informed NBC4 that a UPS truck was involved, and the driver was killed.

Hours after the incident, law police found a pickup truck that matched the description of a suspect vehicle offered by witnesses.
The driver of the pickup truck, which was found on State Route 261 and #Santiago Canyon Road, has now refused to vacate the vehicle and is trapped inside. That person is regarded to be armed and dangerous.
Details of what happened before to the #shooting were not immediately available. Although the reason is unknown, investigators do not believe the #violence was caused by a robbery because nothing was taken from the UPS vehicle.
