Injured Dad Tells Son to Save Himself After Car They Were Fixing Explodes: 'Leave Me, Just Get Out

A father and son from Oregon are extremely fortunate to be alive after being critically injured when the automobile they were working on exploded.

Marsay Garner told KPTV that her father, Darrell Tucker, and her brother, Reese Tucker, a mechanic, were working on a Chevrolet Nova in Yamhill on May 9 when they noticed a gasoline leak, which led to an explosion.

Garner said that Reese got trapped in flames and fled the business first. But then he remembered his father, Darrell, was laying on the ground near the car—"so he patted himself out and ran back in."

Garner said in a GoFundMe appeal that Darrell, who was already healing from a prior operation, shattered his leg and suffered burns while attempting to flee the flames.
