After missing 80 years during #WWII, the remains of U.S. Army Air Forces Staff Sergeant Robert Ferris were returned to his family






 After being gone for 80 years during WWII, U.S. Army Air Forces Staff Sergeant Robert Ferris' remains were returned to his family in New Bern today (May 16) in preparation for burial with full military honors.


SSgt Ferris was greeted by his family at Raleigh-Durham International Airport. Following the planeside honors and dignified transfer by the Honor Guard, the Patriot Guard Riders accompanied SSgt Ferris' remains from RDU to New Bern.
A funeral ceremony is scheduled for next Monday (May 20) at Cotten Funeral Home & Crematory. SSgt Ferris will be put to rest at New Bern National Cemetery after the funeral.
